Ex-lawyer pleads guilty in home-invasion attack on law firm partner who fired her

A former lawyer in Virginia cried as she pleaded guilty on Monday for her role in the November 2014 home invasion and torture attack on the law firm partner who fired her.
The plea deal calls for Alecia Schmuhl to be sentenced to 10 to 45 years in prison, report the Washington Post and NBC Connecticut. She pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of abduction, and one count of burglary with a deadly weapon.
Schmuhl’s husband, former lawyer Andrew Schmuhl, was sentenced in August to life in prison for carrying out the attack on Leo Fisher and his wife, Susan Duncan. Fisher was managing partner of Bean, Kinney & Korman.
Prosecutors said Alecia Schmuhl helped plan the attack and waited outside in her car while her husband carried it out. Andrew Schmuhl slit Fisher’s throat and stabbed Duncan during the three-hour attack in their home. Andrew Schmuhl fled the home after Duncan was able to trigger an alarm. Both Fisher and Duncan survived.
